On the 21st December ladies from the Hikmat Devon Group ‘Sweetie Ladies’ who meet regularly to socialise, keep fit, dance, and get support, amongst other things, came together with partners for a Christmas Celebration. 32 people attended, from a range of cultural backgrounds including Taiwanese, English, Filipino, Chinese and Indonesian.
Candy the group leader fed back “It helped to strengthen relationships and give a greater sense of belonging among attendees. Get togethers increase cultural understanding and foster positive engagement across different ethnic backgrounds. It improves all our morale and wellbeing through social connection.
These are not just get togheters but they also reinforce Hikmat’s organisation’s values around inclusion, respect, and anti-discrimination. Everyone is different and respect each other. Learn different cultures food customs from each other”
